Monday - #MuseumWeek #WomeninCulture - Rihanna
In late 2014, superstar Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was appointed the Women’s Creative Director of Puma. Her re-design and release of the classic Puma Basket as the Fenty Creeper resulted in a shoe that despite being designed for women was desired by men, a very rare occurrence in fashion. Once released, the Puma x Fenty Creepers by Rihanna were one of the most successful shoe drops of 2016.
As well as being extremely commercially successful, the sneaker was a huge critical success and in 2016, Rihanna became the first woman to ever win the Footwear News Shoe of the Year Award.
Just this month, it was announced that Rihanna would be teaming up with the world's largest luxury group, the exclusive LVMH fashion house (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton) to launch her own luxury brand called Fenty. This historic move will make Rihanna the first woman to start an original brand with LVMH and the first woman of colour to lead a brand under this house, which is also the home to brands such as Dior, Givenchy and Fendi.
Rihanna is using her stardom to break down barriers and further opportunities for #WomeninCulture.
